And so merrily I row my boat
Out onto the sea
With no one to care for
And no one to care for me
No one to call to
No where to call home
The shorelines disappear from sight
Lost inside a dream
The waves come crashing over
The water fills my head
My brain begins to drain its thoughts
Because the dream is dead
I’ll pick up my paddle
And sling my bow
Then right the ship
And again I’ll row
To another world, another dream
Again to be lost in thought
Drowning out the main ideas
This world has got me caught

Promise me son
Promise me son,
Do not go where I have gone
Do not see what I have seen
For I am less of a man for it, and regret most of what I’ve done.
Promise me son,
Do not poison your mind with chemicals,
Do not burn up what I gave you to attract warmth,
For I have seen many men die because they could not stand the cold.
Promise me son,
Do not trash the earth in the ways that I have
Do not act unconsciously,
For my conscious does not forget now what I’ve done
Promise me son,
Do not hand your heart out
Do not put yourself in the hands of others
For your heart will be scabbed and torn with wounds
Instead,
Do not go where I have gone
Keep your heart near
And you will be a happy man,
With peace of mind.

The clown's mask is coming off
Pushing off the dock at
3 in the morning
Roses in your eyes
Like a fired disguise
Makes the rain fall soft on my back
Ghosts pass by my face
Faced dark in this place
Going down the road
Going down the road
The clown's mask is coming off
As I sit and watch the sails
At 3 in the morning
Pushing off the dock at
3 in the morning
Roses in your eyes
Like a fired disguise
Makes the rain fall soft on my back
Ghosts pass by my face
Faced dark in this place
Going down the road
Going down the road
The clown's mask is coming off
As I sit and watch the sails
At 3 in the morning
